Hi
Love your work :-)
Noticed the following behaviour:
If you use a customised profile (explained below) then Orbit cannot integrate with Firefox.
Explanation:
Anyone with a functioning neuron, as soon as the do a system build, creates at least a "D:" partition and then moves "My Documents" and all personal data there.
There is a profile manager in Firefox, activated by -
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Firefox.exe" -profilemanager
The Default Profile populates the default C:\Documents and Settings\ tree, buried deeply as usual.
What you can do is a create another Profile: (say) "Default User" and define the associated directory for that to be (say) -
"D:\My Documents\My Browsers\Mozilla Firefox\Default\"
You then delete the "Default" Profile and all data.
You then rename the "Default User" profile to "Default"
Thence you have all the mozilla data under your control.
More to the point, if you have to do a scorched earth reinstall of the OS on the C: drive, then re-installing Firefox is a cinch, with all bookmarks, themes and add-ons retained, once you re-define the Profile.
This isn't Firefox rocket science by any stretch of the imagination, but is not widely known.
The same mechanism is true for all Mozilla Programs, such as Thunderbird and Sunbird.
So customised Profiles is something to bear in mind for a future release, one hopes an environment variable is set somewhere.
Thankyou.
Keep up the good work!
Best Regards

I noticed this too. Orbit only seems to integrate with one (first?) profile, any additional profiles wont have Orbit.
Can this be fixed? Thx.

I also can't have firefox integration with new version 2.7.1.
System Windows Vista 32 bit Ultimate,
Clean Vista installation,
Changing default location of personal folders (like documents, music, pictures etc),
Installing Firefox and run it for the first time,
Installing Orbit 2.7.1 by checking firefox integration option on setup.
Open firefox to check if it's integrated but see no integration.

Second this.
I don't use "customized" profiles or something tho, it just doesn't integrate.

I have the same problem: I use a different profile and I can't have the orbit integration. Why Orbit staff doesn't do something?
Meanwhile I have found a workaround:
1) create a file named "orbit_ffext@orbitdownloader" (without extension)
2) open with notepad and write inside "C:\Program files\Orbitdownloader\addons\orbitff"
3) put this file into the "extension" directory of the customised firefox profile
Sorry for my little english, I hope I helped someone.

Yes I wondered why I didn't have any sign of the browser integration!!!
Thanks for making this thread.
I hope the developers can fix this.
I have't tried the workaround yet capitanOrbit, looks a tad confusing to me but I will have a go and report back!
Cheers.

It works fine, Thank you capitanOrbit!
In case anyone isn't clear...all you need to really do is -
Go into your firefox profiles folder, on XP this will be C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Then go into the one that has the word default in it (like 034xYhU6.default which mine is) or something like that as long as it says default!
Then in there go in the Extensions folder.
You will see a file with the name capitanOrbit gave above - orbit_ffext@orbitdownloader
just right click and COPY this file.
Now you need to go back through the folder so you are back in the PROFILES folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
This time, enter the profile with the name you want to add orbit downloader into...then go in there, into the extensions folder and then right click PASTE the file you copied.
When you restart firefox the new addon will be installed.
Sorry if I'm explaining every little step but I had to explain it to my mother earlier and that made me realise, not everyone is very computer-savvy so need an explanation!
Thanks to capitanOrbit for the idea!!
Cheers...

Do what I did eventually: Use a different software for downloading... Internet Download Manager is great and works with ALL those sites like rapidshare etc too. Integrates with ALL browsers...
It even also has a great browser integration for downloadable media on pages...for downloading youtube and all other embedded video/audio files on a page. It's great!!!
Erm, apart from that then I really don't know what to advise about you not finding a copy of the orbit_ffext@orbitdownloader file because without that file, there can be no integration.
Why not ask someone else here to upload their file somewhere for you to download it and place in the correct folder yourself?
Good luck!
